Waithaka Njoroge
Systems Developer ยท Embedded Systems Engineer in Training ยท Engineering Student
I build to understand, experiment to improve, and engineer to make ideas work.
I'm Waithaka Njoroge, a Bachelor of Science student in Microprocessor Technology and Instrumentation at the University of Nairobi. My interests lie at the intersection of systems programming, embedded engineering, electronics, Linux, cybersecurity, physics, and scientific computing.
I enjoy working close to the machine: understanding how software interacts with hardware, how operating systems organize resources, how networks move information, and how physical principles become measurable, working systems. I learn by building, testing, debugging, reading documentation, and understanding the mechanisms beneath the abstractions.

๐งญ About Me
I'm an engineering student and independent developer interested in understanding technology from the physical layer to the application layer. My academic foundation in physics, mathematics, microprocessors, and instrumentation complements my hands-on exploration of Rust, embedded firmware, Linux systems, backend services, and cloud infrastructure.
I value first-principles thinking, reproducible results, secure configurations, clear documentation, and real implementations. I am not interested in treating a system as a black box when I can investigate how it works.
My long-term goal is to become a capable systems and engineering developer who can move confidently between hardware, low-level software, infrastructure, and scientific applications.

๐ Featured Project: Aetheris OS
Aetheris OS is my Rust-based embedded operating-system project targeting the ESP32-C6 RISC-V microcontroller.
The goal is to develop a standalone, application-oriented embedded environment rather than a single-purpose microcontroller sketch. The project brings together system-level Rust programming, hardware peripherals, a display-based interface, device utilities, and firmware-update functionality.
Project Features
- Rust-based embedded system development
- ESP32-C6 and RISC-V experimentation
- Display-driven user interface and application menu
- Clock, timer, stopwatch, notes, and calculator
- Wi-Fi tools and system information
- Piano, metronome, and games
- Infrared remote functionality
- Firmware updates and device-management features
Repository: github.com/seleste3580-dev/rust_c6_os
Aetheris represents my interest in understanding computing systems from the hardware upward: how software interacts with peripherals, how functionality is organized, and how a microcontroller can become a dedicated computing platform.
๐งช Other Projects
